Thinking, speaking, and writing about literature

We know WHAT happened in a text, but do we know HOW it happened?
Aside from the plot, what is there to say about a text?  How does one describe an author's style?
This ENTIRE PAGE is devoted to ideas, lessons, and tools on how and why we read critically.

Excellent advice from college English teachers.
Professor Celia Easton of the State University of New York College at Geneseo has written a fabulous document on the fundamentals of writing literary analysis.
The writing lab at the Bucks Town Community College of Newtown Pennsylvania produced a comprehensive 'how to' document for writing literary analysis.  The last page is a check list, which asks excellent questions.
